Hope for a Successful Start to the School Year

Category:

Across Southern California children are beginning an exciting new school year. As children adapt to days filled with school bells, recess and new adventures in the classroom, there are many children in the San Fernando Valley who will continue struggle with issues of hunger. This is especially true for children at Van Nuys Elementary School. According to Hope of the Valley Rescue Mission Site Director, Laurie Craft, over eighty percent (80%) of children who attend Van Nuys Elementary face food insecurity throughout the school year. Since its inception nearly ten years ago, Hope of the Valley Rescue Mission has been serving and empowering the homeless and hungry community in San Fernando Valley with support, knowledge, resources, and skills to become self-sufficient. Part of Hope of the Valley’s mission includes identifying the immediate needs of at-risk communities and connecting them with resources or support.

During the month of September, The Reape-Rickett Law firm will partner with the Hope of the Valley Rescue Mission to host a donation drive at our Calabasas office. We will be collecting the most needed items to provide children at Van Nuys Elementary School with the hope of a successful start to the school year and would greatly appreciate the help and support of our Conejo community!
