For many Santa Clarita families, summer time means family trips, pool or beach days and backyard barbecues with friends and neighbors. However, for many families with school aged children, summer can also mean missed or skipped meals and food insecurity as the break from school often leads to a missed breakfast of lunch. According to FeedingAmerica.org, nearly 18 million children across the nation will lose access to daily meals during the summer break period. Many children in Santa Clarita will experience a summer of missed meals but we as a community can help support children in need. Starting July 25, 2017, through the end of August, The Reape-Rickett Law Firm will be collecting food and other needed donations for the Santa Clarita Food Pantry. The nonprofit organization has served the families of Santa Clarita for nearly thirty years and helps bridge the gap to ensure “No child in the Santa Clarita Valley should go… hungry.” The Food Pantry has requested the following “most needed” items:
Peanut Butter Tuna
Mac & Cheese Cereal
Canned Meat Oatmeal
Canned Beans Pasta
Canned Soup Dry Soup (Ramen)
Canned Fruit Dried Beans or Rice
Canned Veggies Canned Tomatoes
Diapers (larger Sizes)
All donations can be dropped off Monday through Friday at The Reape-Rickett Law Firm’s office, located at; 25152 Springfield Court, Suite 100, Valencia, CA 91355, between the hours of 9 am and 5 pm. We look forward to collecting donations and supporting our community to ensure children and families in need can enjoy a summer without food insecurity.
